Characters are usually randomly made, BUT if given the privilege Shiver and Fears will add real people into the stories. Stories such as "A Skeleton Dinner", "Boys Don't Play with Dolls", "Nobody Park", and "The Haunted Halloween Kids", etc. all plotted with a real person.
Shiver and Fears author mostly comes up with challenges when involvement is included. In the year 2022, a challenge to draw specific drawings was asked. Fans were to draw stuff like haunted Houses, evil heroes, and werewolves from paper. Another challenge included fans writing mad libs to be presented on YouTube. Shiver and Fears are now labeled as thrillers. This change is because the lack of horror held back for children's sake. Although most stories include ghosts, no one is allowed to be killed by a character in the book. Endings have not been set to happy endings, nor have a setting to a gruesome death.

Yes, as of now, there are 5-holiday stories. One for Valentine's Day, two for Christmas, and two for Halloween. Some fans say "The Unlucky Charm" is a combination of Easter and St. Patrick's Day due to the story including luck and rabbits.
